Free printing solution for BlackBerry smartphone users with extensive support for developers

At the CeBIT, Cortado presents its Cloud Computing solution for BlackBerry® smartphones: Cortado Workplace. Cortado Workplace provides BlackBerry smartphone users with free Cloud Printing functions, online services and desktop functionalities, such as remote directory and file management. The solution also includes 1 GB of free online storage accessible from a user’s BlackBerry smartphone, as well as from any desktop computer.
"Our Cloud Printing technology is unique as we do not have any specific printer requirements and are supporting more than 6,000 different printer models," says Dirk Löwenberg, Business Director Cortado Services. "Cortado Workplace users can print instantly at work, at home or anywhere else – for free. This includes the printing of any office document or picture in its original format in color or black & white, on an inkjet or laser printer."
Developer Focus
One focus when implementing Cortado’s Cloud Printing service was to create a platform that any third-party BlackBerry developer can utilise. By supporting the standard Java Content Handling API (CHAPI), Cortado allows developers to easily add its extensive Cloud Printing functionality to their applications with little effort and in no time at all.
Documents To Go First to Support Cortado Printing
Applications such as Documents To Go, which already support CHAPI, can enable printing with Cortado from day one. Thanks to CHAPI, users who install Documents To Go Premium Edition and Cortado Workplace on their BlackBerry smartphones can now print documents created or edited with DataViz' office suite directly from within the application. "This is great news for all BlackBerry smartphone users. With Cortado's printing service and Documents To Go, customers now have desktop computer functionality available on their BlackBerry smartphones", says Shari Hoffman, Product Manager Documents To Go, from DataViz.
Corporate customers who would like to use Cortado’s services in their company network can upgrade to Cortado Corporate Server to build their own private cloud behind the firewall.
Cortado Workplace supports BlackBerry OS 4.2.1 or higher such as the BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold as well as the BlackBerry Tour, to name but a few.
