Eichwalde is an independent municipality in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in Brandenburg, located just south-east of Berlin. The municipal administration provides services for its nearly 6,500 inhabitants. These include, for example the registry office, the administration of kindergarten places and many other local government responsibilities.<\/p>\n
An important factor for the quality of services and for managing the municipality\u2019s responsibilities is the availability of employees by telephone. For example, the IT department of the municipality had to consider an alternative when Telekom discontinued support for the ISDN telephone system.<\/p>\n
“We would no longer have been available for citizens,” said Adrian Beer, IT administrator of the Eichwalde municipality. The municipality\u2019s IT experts therefore decided to equip employees with smartphones and use the Cloud PBX from Telekom instead of hardware that was prone to faults. The solution from Telekom combines the connection, telephony, internet and a telephone system with the latest IP technology.<\/p>\n
What was still missing was a solution for assigning and managing mobile rights on smartphones. Here Adrian Beer found what he was looking for in Cortado Mobile Solutions, and the contract was awarded in accordance with procurement regulations. Just like the Telekom solution, Cortado MDM runs from the cloud and is therefore fits perfectly with the Telekom system.<\/p>\n
33 employees are equipped with smartphones based on Android One. Adrian Beer noted: “Colleagues can now move around not only inside the town hall but also outside the building and can also be reached during external appointments”. In addition, the risk of being affected by a power failure and thus being unreachable for citizens is less than with the previous telephone system.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s important for Adrian Beer that he can use Cortado MDM to determine which apps are distributed and allowed. The employees cannot download anything for example. He doesn’t even have to pick up a device to distribute the apps \u2013 everything runs remotely.<\/p>\n
His summed up Cortado MDM by saying that “Cortado secures the assignment of rights. I don’t have to configure any of the devices by hand. Everything runs as desired and I\u2019m fully satisfied.”<\/p>\n
