What is "Direct Push Mail"?

"Direct Push Mail" lets you receive emails on mobile end devices automatically and in real time. With Cortado, you receive a Microsoft Exchange email account for this purpose. Incoming emails to this account are sent immediately (pushed) to the handheld.

With which devices can I use the Cortado Direct Push Mail service?

Cortado Direct Push Mail can currently be used with the following end devices:

Can I also use Cortado with other mobile devices?

Yes. You can access your Cortado emails with any device that supports POP3 or IMAP together with SMTP or has Wireless ActiveSnyc. As an alternative, you can also access your email account online from the web browser on your handheld with Outlook Web Access (at https://webmail.cortado.com/). However, it is not possible to use Direct Push functionality without the devices named above.

Are there any further costs apart from the set fees, which I have to pay for booking the Cortado services?

Further costs may occur depending upon the data volume transferred during usage of the services. Any additional costs depend on your individual mobile phone tariff and will be charged accordingly by your provider. However, many data tariffs already include a specific data volume allowance, meaning no additional costs as long as this volume is not exceeded. Please contact your mobile service provider for further information concerning your data tarif.

Why are some email attachments not displayed?

Although all files are checked repeatedly for viruses before they are sent to your Cortado mailbox, some file types could nevertheless be dangerous. For this reason, Cortado prevents files with the following extensions to be sent or received: .bat, .com, .cmd, .exe, .hta, .js, .jsp, .pif, .url, .wsf, .wsh, .vb, .vbs.

Tipp: To receive or send the above file types anyway, you can pack them in a .zip file.

It is also possible to have emails from other mailboxes sent to my handheld with Direct Push?

It is essentially only possible to use the Cortado Direct Push Services for emails that are found in your Cortado mailbox. To have emails sent to your handheld from other mailboxes, it is therefore necessary to set them to be forwarded to your Cortado account. Another alternative will soon also be available: a POP3 fetch service that automatically collects messages from other Cortado mail servers for forwarding to your Cortado mailbox.

What are the Cortado Premium Services?

With the Cortado Premium Services users with or without a Cortado mailbox can easily and in a straightforward way access documents from e. g. e-mail attachments. Thus you can view received documents at any time and send them directly from your handheld to a printer, a fax machine or even a notebook monitor – without having to download the original document. For the platforms Windows Mobile 5.0 and Nokia, Cortado also offers the functions Print and Fax for documents saved locally on the handheld. And with the respective handheld, print data can be sent both via Bluetooth and the infrared interface (IrDA).

Create faxes on the road with the Short Fax function and send them from anywhere in the world. And all that using professional layouts. With Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and Nokia E- and N-Series models you can even add your scanned signature to your faxes.

Learn more about the Cortado Premium Services by selecting your platform from the menu at the top of this page and selecting “Premium Services”.

Why does the Cortado (Content Beamer) application require registering to use the Cortado Premium Services when first starting it?

The initial registration when opening the Cortado (Content Beamer) Client to use the Cortado Premium Services is necessary to register your mobile device with Cortado and use the Premium Services. During this initial registration process, a connection to the Cortado servers is established, a registration PIN generated and assigned to the IMEI of your mobile device. Only thus can the usage of the Premium Services with your mobile device be guaranteed.

Why can I only test and use the Premium Service “View” with a Cortado mailbox?

With the Cortado Premium Service “View”, a server module generates so-called Remote Documents from any received e-mail attachment and adds them to the respective e-mail message automatically. Remote Documents are optimized preview documents of especially small data size. This process is currently only available for e-mails that are received via the Cortado Exchange servers, i. e. for messages arriving in a Cortado mailbox. Once an e-mail with an attachment is thus received on a mobile device, the user can then use the much smaller file for viewing the attachment, before downloading the original document or print or fax it.

Note: The “View” option is also available when testing or using the Premium Service without a Cortado mailbox. Please keep in mind though, that in this case significantly higher data traffic is caused, because the original attachment will first be downloaded and then uploaded again to generate the Remote Document, i. e. the preview.

By the way, you can set up a Cortado Standard mailbox package here and use it immediately and for free during the first 30 days!
