The town of Mechernich relies on Cortado MDM to manage the cell phones and tablets used for work
The town of Mechernich, located directly on the edge of the Eifel National Park, relies on mobile working in many departments. Whether it’s the mayor, the first alderman or the public order office, the people of Mechernich use Android smartphones and iPhones or iPads not only in their private lives, but also at work.
According to system administrator Bernd Wienand, mobile working improves internal communication, documentation and contact management. In Mechernich, for example, parking offenders are not only recorded using a smartphone, but the following necessary work steps are also triggered on the move.
Both devices provided by the city and private devices are used, which are then managed for professional use with Cortado MDM in such a way that the work areas are separated from each other and thus GDPR-compliant. The city decides whether to purchase Android or iOS devices depending on the use case and requirements. It took Bernd Wienand just two months from testing the Cortado software to going live.
According to Bernd Wienand, he is very satisfied with the Cortado solution. Even the sales support was excellent. “The commissioning was also very straightforward,” says the IT expert. “Configuring the software itself was easy. The prepared GDPR-compliant templates for Android and iOS devices are convenient.”
Around 38 managed devices are currently in use. Other work areas such as building management and the building yard are now gradually being added.
