Enhanced Integrity Checks for Android Devices and Remediation Actions via Google Play Integrity API

The new integration of the Google Play Integrity API in the Cortado administration portal provides granular detection of integrity levels and allows Android devices or work profiles to be automatically locked or wiped based on a customizable integrity threshold.

Integrity checks are a vital component for the security of Android apps and devices. For instance, they help detect rooted devices or devices with unlocked bootloaders, which can quickly become entry points for malware.

Google's new standard for integrity checking, the Play Integrity API, is now integrated into the Cortado administration portal, replacing the previous Google SafetyNet check. The new API includes all the check features of SafetyNet, along with improved error reporting and a more granular classification of integrity levels.

The integrity levels detectable via the Play Integrity API range from Hardware-backed (high), Device (medium), and Basic (low) to compromised and unidentifiable. These are displayed in the administration portal for each device, along with the timestamp of the last check.

These integrity levels are also available for selection when defining which threshold should trigger automated remediation actions for a device. You can choose whether the device or work profile should be automatically locked or completely reset/wiped if the selected integrity level is not maintained.
