More control & flexibility: iOS policies, user details & app upload

May 6, 2025

Several new functions have been added to our administration portal to give you more control and flexibility in your day-to-day device management. With the latest improvements, iOS/iPadOS policies can be controlled more specifically, user information can be called up more quickly and self-hosted apps can be provided more flexibly.

New policies for Apple Intelligence under iOS/iPadOS

With the introduction of iOS/iPadOS 18.4, Apple is expanding its operating system with a variety of powerful AI functions under the name Apple Inelligence.

To give you the best possible control over the use of these new technologies on managed devices, we have adapted our management policies accordingly.

You can now individually determine whether and to what extent Apple Intelligence may be used on your managed iPhones and iPads. This option offers you maximum flexibility – for example, to allow or completely prevent use for certain users, depending on your operational requirements or data protection specifications.

We show you how to configure policies for iOS/iPadOS devices here. Detailed information on the new AI functions can be found in the official Apple user manual.

Direct access to user details from device management

To make managing your devices even more efficient, we have added a practical new function to the user interface: you can now switch directly from the detailed view of a device to the corresponding user view.

If you are in device management and call up the detailed view of a specific device, you now have a new option that takes you to user management with just one click. There you will receive comprehensive information about the corresponding device owner – including assigned contact details, group membership, policies, apps and other relevant user information.

This function makes it easier for you to quickly establish the connection between devices and users and to carry out administrative tasks in an even more targeted manner.

Further information can be found on our help pages.

Multiple upload of self-hosted apps

The administration portal now supports multiple uploads of identical app files in .apk (for Android) or .ipa (for iOS) format. This means that you can upload one and the same self-hosted app file multiple times and manage each as a separate app instance. Each of these instances can be configured with its own settings.

This function creates more flexibility in app distribution and makes it easier to customize applications within your organization.
