Study: Smartphones Make Working Better
According to a recent study by Cortado Mobile Solutions on smartphone usage, nearly 80 percent of respondents view the use of mobile devices in their work environment positively.
Nearly 80% of respondents find smartphones helpful at work, yet many companies still need to catch up when it comes to establishing smartphone policies and Mobile Device Manager systems.
(Berlin, May 3, 2023) - According to a recent study by Cortado Mobile Solutions on smartphone usage, nearly 80 percent of respondents view the use of mobile devices in their work environment positively. The survey of randomly selected adults who use smartphones or tablets for their work also shows that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) - the professional use of private devices - is the leading model at 42.3 percent, followed by company-owned devices used by 30.7 percent of respondents.
Surprisingly, only 19 percent of employees who use their private smartphone for work receive financial compensation. In this context, Cortado Mobile Solutions emphasizes the importance of clear policies and Mobile Device Manager (MDM) systems to protect sensitive corporate data on mobile devices and avoid violations of data protection laws. The survey shows that many companies still have a lot of catching up to do in establishing smartphone policies and deploying MDM.
The study also shows that the tasks performed with mobile devices are diverse. Making calls and processing emails are the most frequently mentioned tasks at 88.3 and 77.9 percent, respectively, followed by conference calls, messenger services, the use of employer apps, and photography.
"Our study highlights that smartphones are viewed very positively in a professional context and can significantly improve work processes. However, it is crucial that companies establish clear policies and use MDM systems to protect the data on mobile devices," says Michael Rödiger, CEO of Cortado Mobile Solutions.
The survey was conducted between March and April 2023. Randomly selected adults who use a smartphone in their daily professional lives were interviewed.
